UN International Day of Education
International Day of Education is observed on 24th January 2022, this being the fourth International Day of Education with a variety of celebrations taking place on this day with global events are organized at UNESCO Headquarters in New York and Paris.
The celebration in Thailand is on 7th March 2022 due to Covid-19 concerns in the month of January. Covid-19 has disrupted mainstream education globally and at the same time it has also opened up new insights and possibilities, presenting us with new challenges, technologies, and opportunities. It is important that we recognize and adopt these changes in educating and preparing youths.
The aim of having the event is to promote awareness about education as a fundamental human right and a public responsibility
-
Making people aware of various initiatives taken by governments, organizations, educations- from global to local- along with spreading the role of equal and relevant education for all.

Education is a human right, a public good, and a public responsibility.
Without inclusive and equitable quality education and lifelong opportunities for all, countries will not succeed in achieving gender equality and breaking the cycle of poverty that is leaving millions of children, youth, and adults behind.
Today, 258 million children and youth still do not attend school; 617 million children and adolescents cannot read and do basic math; less than 40% of girls in sub-Saharan Africa complete lower secondary school, and some four million children and youth refugees are out of school. Their right to education is being violated and it is unacceptable.
2022 Celebrations
We will celebrate the fourth International Day of Education under the theme “Changing Course, Transforming Education”. As it was detailed in UNESCO’s recent global Futures of Education report, transforming the future requires an urgent rebalancing of our relationships with each other, with nature as well as with technology that permeates our lives, bearing breakthrough opportunities while raising serious concerns for equity, inclusion and democratic participation.

This year’s International Day of Education will be a platform to showcase the most important transformations that have to be nurtured to realize everyone’s fundamental right to education and build a more sustainable, inclusive and peaceful future. It will generate debate around how to strengthen education as a public endeavour and common good, how to steer the digital transformation, support teachers, safeguard the planet and unlock the potential in every person to contribute to collective well-being and our shared home.

Event Format
The first part is the main event is a general overview on the theme and Pitching demo by students for invited guests and participants, and the part is to hold a mini-workshop for students and teachers. Both these events will be conducted in parallel.
The mini-workshop is for students to participate in interactive activities to experience what it takes to solve real-world issues. After that, the students get to create a project to present their ideas to the audience.
